I had been slowly knocking off summits in the Sultan Basin area, and it was time for Blue Mountain and its 1095 feet of prominence. I brought my trusty old bike, because I knew I could make quick work of the downhill on the road.
The entirety of the ascent can be made via a logging road, which takes off shortly before Olney Pass. It was clear from the start that this section was way too steep for me to bike uphill, so I committed to pushing my bike, and did so for most of the ascent. It wasn’t until I reached around 3000’ that the ridgeline flattened out and I was able to get some biking in.
The summit itself isn’t too impressive. It’s mostly a slash pile with a radio tower on top, but I did get some misty views of the nearby peaks on my ascent. Overall, I would recommend nearby Git Out Ridge for better views.
The way down was super-fast as predicted. I basically just rode my brakes down the steepest sections and got back to my car in no time. Round trip time was 1 hour and 16 minutes.

Final Stats: 6.2 miles / 1032 feet of gain
